Default Powerful Solution to Revive Heroes Ascent

How many of you want to play Heroes Ascent? How many of you are dismayed to find out that you can't play Heroes Ascent because there is no participation?

I have come up with an amazing incentive based solution to jump start Heroes Ascent....read on....!

With the release of Guild Wars 2 the drop in population has become so severe that Heroes Ascent is nearly impossible to play.

Since the best solution involves encouraging players to play Heroes Ascent and most of those potential players are now playing Guild Wars 2 I came up with a highly creative solution.

“Strength Of Our Ancestors”

Whenever Guild Wars 1 has “Favor Of the Gods,” Guild Wars 2 has “Strength Of Our Ancestors.”

In Guild Wars 2 individual servers gain bonuses from participating in World vs World.

“Strength Of Our Ancestors” would apply in addition slight bonuses across the board to all Guild Wars 2 servers.

Lastly to tie it in with Heroes Ascent, when a match completes in the Hall Of Heroes (irregardless of who wins) have this count towards the achievement count needed to gain the “Favor Of The Gods” in addition to the already existent system which requires players to gain achievements.

One of the incentives for players to participate in Guild Wars 2 World Vs World is to gain benefits for their world.

Similarly, if gaining “Favor Of The Gods” in Guild Wars 1 gains “Strength Of Our Ancestors” in Guild Wars 2 yielding small increases in bonuses to all servers, people will be encouraged participate more in Guild Wars 1 for the purpose of gaining bonuses for Guild Wars 2.

If completing a match in Hall Of Heroes (irregardless of winner) demonstrates to be one of the most time efficient ways to gain "Favor Of The Gods" and "Strength Of Our Ancestors," I would anticipate a portion of Guild Wars 2 players including myself participating in Heroes Ascent, giving it the jump start it desperately needs.

-Guild Wars 2 players will enjoy bonuses
-Those who still play Guild Wars 1 can take pride in providing bonuses to both Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2.
-There are direct incentives for both Guild Wars 1 and 2 to play Heroes Ascent. This incentive would act as a jump start to Heroes Ascent.
-In terms of story lines the idea is compatible. The ancestors of Guild Wars 2 reside in Guild Wars 1. The ancestors (Guild Wars 1) gained strength from the Favor Of The Gods and passed it on to the future generations (Guild Wars 2).

-Most importantly, some people may actually consider buying the original Guild Wars just for this purpose, a plus that ArenaNet can not easily ignore.

Everybody wins

I really doubt GW2 players will come back just to HA, same for the GW1 players who don't/no longer give a crap about GW2.

Exactly. I went on an other thing since i can't ever get an opponent anywhere in PvP( except if i want to wait hours ) and there's no much reason for me to play GW1 PvP.

Actually, the only reason i would come back would be if i was convinced i would have fair and fun matchs quickly, something which would happen only if hench parties were allowed.

I'm sorry but all the decline arrived after they removed heroes from PvP ( we had bots, crap metas such as bbways and invoke spikes, match manipulation, inactivity, more match manipulation,...) and it's been 3 years now and codex arena remains the same....

I feel sorry for the OP. Still stuck in the past? It's time for you to move on, broski. Or find you a pool of 15 other people that're all dedicated enough to play with you on a daily basis in HA [highly doubt you can, tho]. Otherwise, HA died a long time ago, and "elitism" along with "game imbalance" and "Arenanet's deflating interest in PvP, and its aggressively negative community in general" helped speed up its demise.

Your best bet OP, is to just move on. You can thank me later.

Agreed OP, if not something else to bring players back into this community. Not just gw2 players but players of all sorts, Anet hire some more people and launch some new stuff for gw and bring it back! Guild Wars 1 and 2 are purely just names, nothing close to the same. So why not have 2 games both supported and updated regularly instead of one? If a new Exspansion or something of the sort was released there would be a huge boom in the population. If it's good enough, people would stay and play!

Living in the past? lolol your still on the guildwarsguru fourms? This game is still active, just not as active as it once was.

I'm far from a regular here on these forums nowadays. Call it my own sheer, morbid curiosity that brought me here. I just stopped by to see the desolation that lays here, and perhaps guide those who're stranded in it. It's a shame there're no longer any flowers to smell here.

That's not a good solution. It makes GW2 worse, it doesn't deal with the real reason why some formats are dead.

The real reason why HA and the other formats are dead despite people actually wanting to play them is because GW1 doesn't have a good "match making"/grouping/queuing system, and those formats require a minimum number of participants greater than one. There could be dozens of people wanting to play a particular format but nobody wants to stand around for hours in the hope that eventually 15 or 23 others would do the same thing. They want to play the game, not stand around for ages. The ones who don't mind standing around are the traders.

The problem is adding a queuing system will take a lot of new work, and GW1 is in maintenance/hold. It's a shame really since the PvP formats are quite interesting and fun.

The other problem with HA and GvG is lots of people want a "perfect" team build. So how do you do something fun or at least not boring as that "perfect" team, while queuing/waiting for the actual match? GW1 is not like those "Holy Trinity" MMOs where most builds can fall neatly into DPS/Tank/Healer, and that's what makes GW1 far more interesting to me. But that makes team forming and organization harder.

For FA, AB, and JQ maybe dropping the minimum player requirement down to two (one per side) could help. If one side only has X players (where X is lower than the max) the other side will only have X players too - gives an incentive to talk to the suspicious/shady kurzick/luxon . Maybe have two buttons "enter full battle" (normal), "enter quick battle" (where smaller than full teams are allowed). Yes the 1v1 matches would be silly esp for FA, but less boring than standing around. And if enough silly 1 v 1 people turn up, you end up with more than 1 v 1.

Actually would a sponsored tournament bring people back? There were some in the past. If someone can find sponsor would it be worth it?

It might bring people back, but the chances of them sticking around are nil.

GW1 was great, once. The past is the past now, though. I wouldn't worry about coming back to re-kindle anything unless you can bring in 9+ other IRL friends that can derive nostalgic pleasures from this once flourishing, and now dead, game.

constant shitty skill balances with additional campaigns(again mostly shitty duplicate skills) caused the games demise, the variety of builds were reduced over time, leading to stale mirror matches that involve some sort of legoway builds with 2+ ele midlines.

all the builds that people played for fun was nerfed, bbway, rspike, bspike, ancestors rage spike, shitway, sbri, paraspike list goes on.

the game was like rock paper scissors in a way and really since 2009 onwards its been rock rock rock.

let tombs rest in peace.

Yes, perhaps not everyone who reads this board is aware that HA is alive again. Plus, it's the double fame points week, so jump in, guys, if you weren't there for a long time.
